Submission Guidelines

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and article may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Below the flow-chart to the process of publication in Basrah Journal of Science

* The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.

* I understand that, this manuscript cannot be withdrawn or submitted to another Journal once it is       reviewed. If So, Bas J Sci  has the right to take the proper action according to its bylaws.

* The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined.

* The submission file should be in Microsoft Word  format.

* Copyright form is ready with every Author's Signatures, which needs to be uploaded as supplementary      file. 

* Manuscripts must be with 1.5 spacing and wide margins (2.5cm) on all sides. A font type of "Times New      Roman" and size of "12 points" is required.

* Correction of the English language is not the responsibility of the Bas J Sci. Authors(s) not fluent in   English are asked to get their manuscripts checking by a high qualified professional language editor.

Online submission of the research paper

1- Authors are required to fill up the entire authors' names when they fill up the metadata to submit the        paper. Also, it is important to mention the correct corresponding author with his/her email and full            corresponding  address.

2 -Manuscripts with a plagiarism test index of less than 20% only will be pass for review processing.

General

1- Manuscripts should be in standard English; American spelling versions are accepted but consistency must be maintained.

2- Concise, well-thought-out, and prepared papers adhering to the style of the journal are likely to be               published sooner than those in need of extensive editing and revision. Bas J Sci will enforce its style on       manuscripts accepted for publication. 

3- The authors should declare that the manuscriptsent is original and no part of it has been published            before or is being considered for publication in any other journal.

4- Publication in the Bas J Sci is free of charge.

About author (s)

1- Authors are required to fill up the entire authors name when they fill up the metadata to submit the paper.

2- It is important to mention the correct corresponding author with his/her email and full corresponding address.

3- Copyright form should be downloaded and fill it up and get it signed by all the authors and send it to the journal with revised copy of manuscript.

4- Manuscript file size should be less than 2 MB and if the file size exceeds this size, compress the file.

Preparation of Manuscript

The main text should be paginated, starting with the Title, Abstract page and ending with the Reference page(s). Page numbers should appear in the middle on top of the pages. Figures and Tables captions should be inserted within the text at the appropriate places and uploaded as separate pages.

2- Manuscripts must be typewritten with 1.5 spacing and wide margins (25mm) at all sides. A font type of "Times New Roman" and size of "12 points" is required. The document format should be in MS word.

3- Names of the authors and their affiliations must be centralized followed by abstract in one column.

4- Words to be printed in italics should appear as italics in the manuscript. Genus and species must be italicized.

Title/Abstract/Keywords

1- Title should be in lower case characters except the first letter.  A running title should be present at the end of the manuscript.

2- Author names should be in the following format, Example: A.A Ahmed, S.A. Ali

3- Order of Author names should be suffixed with number in superscript (Example: A.A Ahmed1, S.A. Ali2). If the affiliation for all the authors is the same then of superscript is not needed.

4- Corresponding Author's name should be identified with a superscript asterisk * (Example:  A.A Ahmed1,*).

5- The abstract (not exceeding 250 words) should state the objectives achieved and give main findings of the work described in the paper. It should be independent of the text and should not contain abbreviations or bibliographical references.

6- At least four keywords relating to the concerned subject should be given in alphabetical order separated by semicolons.

Introduction
State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.

 Experimental details
Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference: only relevant modifications should be described.

Theory/calculation
A Theory section should extend, not repeat, the background to the article already dealt with in the Introduction and lay the foundation for further work. In contrast, a Calculation section represents a practical development from a theoretical basis.

Results
Results should be clear and concise.

Discussion
This should explore the significance of the results of the work, not repeat them. A combined Results and Discussion section is often appropriate. Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.

Conclusions
The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, which may stand alone or form a subsection of a Discussion or Results and Discussion section

Figures

 1- All illustrations are called Figures and should be referred to as Figure at the start of the sentence. Figure parts are referenced as Fig. 1.

2- Figures should be numbered serially and should appear in text in order.

3- Figure captions should appear on a separate page after the references.

 Photographs

1- Clear digital photographs (high resolution) are accepted in TIF or GIF formats.

2- Field photographs must contain a scale.

 Maps

1- Maps and field sketches must include a metric bar scale. Regional maps must include a North arrow and at least 2 latitude and 2 longitude numbers on each of its respective sides; National Grid numbers may also be used. Map keys should be given on map or figure, not as numbered boxes.

 Tables

1- References to tables in text should appear as Table 2.

2- Each table should have a brief descriptive title set above the body of the table.

3-Tables should be numbered serially and should appear in text in order.

 Acknowledgements

1- Acknowledgments should follow the main text with heading ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS.

2- Personal acknowledgements should precede those of institutions or agencies only (not referees).

3- The funding agency which supported the work must be clearly mentioned.

 Reference style
Text: Indicate references by number(s) in square brackets in line with the text. The actual authors can be referred to, but the reference number(s) must always be given.
Example: '..... as demonstrated [3,6]. Hassan and faduil [8] obtained a different result ....'
List: Number the references (numbers in square brackets) in the list in the order in which they appear in the text.

Reference to a book:

Mathematics

 1- Authors must provide instructions on how symbols and equations should be set.

2- Equations should be numbered sequentially in the right-hand side and in parenthesis. They should be referred to in the text as Equation 4.

 Revision of Manuscripts

 1- Manuscripts must be returned to the Editor-in-Chief within  30 days of the author's receipt of referees' reports.

2- Revised Manuscript must be professionally checked and edited by a Language Editor / Copy editor and it should be formatted strictly as per the Journal style. Figures and tables along with their captions must be placed next to the relevant text in the article. The acceptance letter will be provided only upon the receipt of the final edited MS.

Electronic Text

  • The final version to be submitted in WORD

2- Text from most word processing systems is acceptable. The Journal, however, encourages the use of Microsoft Office 2007 or latest version in the WINDOWS format.

 Note

All manuscripts become property of the Journal and are not returned to authors, even if a manuscript is rejected. Original manuscripts and illustrations are discarded two months after publication, unless a prior arrangement is made with the Editor-in-Chief.
