Lead is a naturally occurring toxic metal found in the earth's crust. Its widespread use has resulted in extensive environmental contamination, human exposure and significant public health problems in many parts of the world. In this study we report the preparation of three esters impregnated with magnetic nanoparticles Fe3O4, esters prepared from 2,2-bis(hydroxyl methyl)propane-1,3-diol with 4-hydroxy benzoic acid (I), nicotinic acid (niacin) (II) and stearic acid (III). The synthesis absorbents (I@Fe3O4, II@Fe3O4 and III@Fe3O4) proved to be effective for the removal of lead ions from aqueous solution at near-neutral pH, the adsorption behavior was matching with Langmuir model for I@Fe3O4 and II@Fe3O4 and in keeping with Freundlich model for III@Fe3O4 with qmax values of 862.068 mg/g, 1149.425 mg/g and 261.096 mg/g respectively. The adsorption of Pb(II) follows pseudo-first-order kinetics for three adsorbents.
